The vision to manufacture great tires began in August 1945, when the founding president, Mr. Rikimatsu Tomihisa, established Toyo Tire & Rubber Co, Ltd. in Japan. In 1966, ToyoTires became the first Japanese tire manufacturer to establish a subsidiary in the United States. Then-known as Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) The corporation started storing and distributing commercial truck tires from a modest office in Southern California.
In 1975, the business started producing passenger replacement tires, and through a network of independent tire dealers, the Toyo Tires brand started to expand in the US. In the 1980s, Toyo Tires began competing in U.S. road racing. By the end of the decade, drivers using Toyo products had captured numerous championship titles, and the motorsports legacy of Toyo Tires was born. To meet the demands of consumers and set a few trends in the process Toyo Tires has also become a leader in fitments and dynamic tire applications.
From the late 1990s into the 21st century, the company has been responsible for several significant product developments in these areas. As in Malaysia, Toyo Tires Malaysia Sdn Bhd was established in Taiping, Malaysia on April 12, 2011, following the acquisition of Silverstone Berhad. The ToyoTyreMalaysia Factory Completion Ceremony was officiated on May 8, 2013, by Mr. Kenji Nakakura, Chairman of Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd.
It is customary to hold this ceremony to commemorate a significant achievement before operations begin. The cutting-edge tire factory, which cost RM800 million and is located on a 148-acre property in Kawasan Perindustrian Kamunting Raya, Kamunting, Taiping, produces tires of the highest caliber and performance for passenger cars, MPVs, SUVs, and 4x4s.
It is equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment and uses Toyo Tires’ most advanced technologies – T-ModeandAdvanced Tyre Operation Module (A.T.O.M) a highly flexible and automated production system that maintains consistency of product quality at all times, during the manufacturing process.
